The grapes for this wine were sourced from our Riverview vineyard, on the southern terraces of the Ngaruroro River in the Hawke’s Bay. The free draining shingle plains of this inland site consistently provide the winery with exceptional Chardonnay that is unique and distinctive, with pure fruit flavours and intense minerality that simply cannot be found in other vineyards.
Handpicked fruit was taken off our flagship Riverview vineyard where it was then whole bunch pressed to barrel. The juice was left to ferment with natural wild yeasts and minimal inputs. The wine spent at least 18 months in new and old oak where it underwent malolactic fermentation. Following barrel maturation, the wine was tankered to our Katikati winery for final finishing and bottling. The wine was bottled in August 2017.
