If you love Viognier, boy are you in for a treat! If you haven’t tried Viognier before why not throw yourself in at the deep end and start with something that’s just drizzling in class! You’ll also want to know how to pronounce it – it’s “vee-on-yay“.
From one of Hawke’s Bays shining stars. Elephant Hill are fast proving it’s not just their winery and restaurant that’s flash as – the wines ain’t bad either!
This took out Trophy for the Champion Other White plus a Gold medal at the Royal Easter Wine Show 2019. Bob Campbell also gave it 94/100 and said “Rich, low key and subtly creamy viognier with apricot, nectarine and subtle nut flavours. A suave and appealing wine.”
A lovely rich, balanced white with all the classic Viognier stonefruit flavours of peaches, apricots and nectarines. If you’re in the Bay swing by this place and grab a feed paired with these world class wines – their restaurant took out Cuisine’s top winery restaurant not so long ago too! They’ll pair this one up with their gnocchi tortellini, ricotta, carrots, black garlic, almond praline, golden raisin puree. Heavenly!
