The Baron de Brane of the Deuxième Cru Classé Château Brane-Cantenac leaves one astonished by the name “second wine”. The strict selection of the grapes and the 12-month expansion in 20% new French oak barrels testify to the high quality standards of the winemaker Henri Lurton, which is reflected in the dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon Cuvée impressive. The concentrated but supple dark berryiness on the nose is complemented on the palate by a fine pepperiness, defused in the soft, supple tannin and harmoniously integrated into the round, slightly woody-toasted finish. This is how Baron de Brane proves to be a typical top-quality red wine from Margaux, which expresses the peculiarities of its pebbly-loamy terroir in an aromatic way.

Grapes: Carménère · Cabernet Sauvignon · Cabernet Franc · Merlot

Region: Margaux

Regional styles: Bordeaux Margaux

Food pairing: Beef · Lamb · Game (deer, venison) · Poultry

Intense cherry, plum and vanilla notes on the nose.

Tangy, earthy red cherries on the palate with a touch of chocolatey-ness coming through on the finish. Complex flavours but far too young to be served. Needs substantial aging to be pleasantly drinkable. Very austere. Good potential.

Margaux is a reliable appelation. Any cellar discounts are therefore to be taken straight away. This classic wine has a nice tannin structure with leather and vanilla tones. On the palate black forrest fruit.
