Low alcohol wines vary from brand to brand, but they all have one thing in common – they have a lower alcohol content than standard wine. Almost all have an AVB that is under 10 percent. This is 25 percent less than standard wines. That’s only the starting point for low alcohol wines, though, as many have an even lower alcohol content than that.

Wine has been made for millennia, and while the techniques used today are modernised, the principles remain the same. Therefore, special techniques are required to make low alcohol wines.

One example of these special techniques is to use grapes that are less ripe than normal during the fermentation process, although each winery will use its own method for making low alcohol wine.
