Description
This classic Hawkes Bay Pinot Gris expresses aromatics of baked pear and spice with red apple and an elegant floral lift. Lees ageing along with a small portion of barrel maturation adds texture and richness to the pure fruit palate that finishes dry with lovely length
Grapes for this wine were grown in select vineyard throughout Hawkes Bay. Healthy soils and vines with good fruit exposure to sunlight produced grapes showing excellent flavour intensity and ripeness. The warm and dry growing season of 2021 has produced outstanding wines in Hawkes Bay
The fruit for this wine was gently destemmed and pressed immediately to avoid extended skin contact and the risk of excessive pick up of bitter substances. The naturally settled juice was then racked clear and inoculated for ferment. Fermentation at cool temperatures has retained fruit purity and acid/sugar balance was achieved by stopping the ferment before complete dryness. Maturation on lees, with a small portion in barrel, has added a fine texture and body to the wine.
Food Pairing: Pasta, fish, antipasto and salads.
